Gallery slideshow

    Hi,

I'm currently using the "Twenty Eleven"-theme from WordPress, but I would love to be able to switch designs now and then. I have looked at the other themes, but everytime I have a live preview and check the posts I have on my blog with slideshows, there's always something wrong with them.. They're always placed wrong in the post and it never looks pretty.. And I don't know if it's because of the previews, or if the design is that way..

So my question is; Is there other themes out there that support slideshows, so I don't have to go in to the posts I have with them and change them if I want to change design?

The blog I need help with is cutthroateliza.com.

  2. The Photo Carousel is available on every WordPress.com theme where you've used the Gallery feature.

The live previews don't really show the Gallery Photo Carousel, but you can see your images in your posts and pages better by minimizing the sidebar. There's an arrow in the bottom left corner of the preview screen that hides it and lets you see your content as it would appear on the screen, but without the Carousel.

Is there a specific page or post that you are referring to where things are jumbled up?

It also looks to me like you are uploading images straight out of your camera. This image, for example has dimensions of 5184x3456 pixels and weighing in at 5.6MB, but it is being displayed at 584x389 pixels. This is an enormous waste of your 3GB storage space. You'll use your space much more efficiently if you resize your images in an image editing program before you upload them and it will have the added benefit of keeping image quality.

    Thanks for your reply.

I think it's this post I've been checking (the slideshow at the end):

Yeah, I didn't pay attention to it before, but I noticed the memory space when I got my new computer a few days ago and have plans to start minimizing them from now on.

Will the resize-function in my media-gallery make the images I've already postet take less space, or do I have to upload them again?

  4. Ah, different slideshow and not the Photo Carousel, though I believe you don't see the slideshow for the same reason that the Carousel doesn't show. Since I can't see a preview of your site with the new theme, a screenshot for Staff would be welcome.

At this point I'm not really sure about resizing in the Media Library and whether it affects the size of already uploaded images, but you can try yourself on a few older, less popular posts and see if there's any change in size. There will be a change in image quality and not necessarily for the better. If you decide to upload the images again after resizing them in a program, you'll have to insert them again in each post/page, as the image link will be different from the original image inserted.
