Do photo galleries load faster than a collection of individual images, or are they just a convenient way of viewing all those images without scrolling a lot? In other words, if I have 20 photos in a gallery, when someone loads up that post, do they have to download all 20 photos, or just thumbs of the 20 and load whatever photo they click on to enlarge when they click on them? Thank you.

Galleries are a convenient way of batch uploading and arranging images. Loading time depends on file size and displayed size. In other words, a group of individual images and a gallery of the same images displayed in the same size will take the same loading time.
