Geotagging, Widgets, and outside HTML?

    I am having more than a little trouble...I am trying to start a WordPress blog and it is so complicated for me. I'm familiar with HTML, I know how to code, and I've been blogging for almost a year but for some reason I cannot get the hang of this website.

    First:
    I'm having trouble with this whole geotagging thing...I'm trying to set my blog up so that when I travel I can post geotagged entries from my phone and whenever I try it doesn't show up (I'm not sure if I'm even looking in the right spot or what it's supposed to show up as). I have geotagging enabled in my settings and I select a location every time I post...I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    Second & Third:
    I keep trying to use the Flickr widget, expecting it to show little thumbnails of images on the sidebar but all it shows is text hyperlinks to pictures. Is that normal? On other blogging platforms you're allowed to add just an empty HTML box to the sidebar where you can fill in outside codes like for flickr or banners or something but I couldn't find anything like that.

    Also...once I pick a url am I stuck with it? Or can I change it? If I can change it..how?

    I tried to find answers for these in Support, but as usual I had a hard time navigating. Am I just not meant to use WordPress? I feel like this should be as simple for me as it is for everyone else but I'm just not getting the hang of it...

    (3) Instructions re:url - You cannot change your url. What you can do is register a new blog and transfer your posts from one to the other.

    If you do delete a blog the url cannot be recycled and used again.

    wordpress.com is a multiuser blogging platform and there are restrictions on code that can be used on them http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

    I hope that I have answered your questions.If not, post again into this same thread. I suspect that they are stemming from not understanding the nature of this mutiuser blogging platform and how it differs from other blogging platforms.

    So with the geotagging...if it's machine readable is there no way for anyone to actually SEE where the posts are coming from? I think thats what is confusing me...why do it if no one can ever see it?

    You used to be able to use the Platial Mapkit widget; check and it might still be there.
