Get a reddit for wordpress.com

  1. There's been discussion about the wordpress.com Top Blogs, and how they promote the very popular VIP bloggers over Joe Average.

I think the solution is to get something like http://reddit.com where we can submit our blog stories and then the wordpress.com community can voted them up and down.

We can request our own little area on reddit.com here:

If you think this is a good idea, please support it by creating an account on reddit and voting up this idea:

(You can read more about this idea here: http://engtech.wordpress.com/2006/10/11/wordpresscom-needs-a-community-blog-post-voting/ )

  2. So I went and got a community voting site created. Let's see what happens.

  3. Well, as our Top Posts and Top Blogs appear frozen, this would actually be a great backup system, come to think of it.

  4. Talk about horrible timing, too. I trolled slashdot just to get the 15000 or so views I needed to get the post about the community voting site to the front page. :)

I wasn't thinking of it as necessarily a permanent "secondary" WP community, more of a "hey, do we like this kind of feature enough to ask for it?"

One neat thing though -- it does have it's own forums so that might be a more appropriate place for non-support/idea/css related chit-chat amongst wp.com bloggers.

It also has an RSS feed here: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/wordpress.com/rss

I know I'm going to be following the feed and visiting any stories people post to be voted on fanpop.
