Getting More Views on MY Blog....

  1. I have read many different posts, blogs, and descriptive sites talking about how to get more views. The thing is, I already have of almost everything everybody recommends. My website: http://www.igorcbyx.wordpress.com , is a blog about me traveling abroad and blogging. The thing is, I don't know what I need to do to get views? This blog is 9 months old and has only 5000 views. If you type in traveling abroad, cbyx blog, or germany abroad ciee, or something around what I am blogging about, my blog is on the first page on google, no matter what computer I log in from (signed in to google or not) at school, home, laptop, Nook Color, etc. Please take a look at my blog and see if there is anything you recommend I work on to get more views.... Thanks and have a great weekend! Igor

The blog I need help with is igorcbyx.wordpress.com.

  2. Please be flat honest! Where is @timethief :D

  3. For starters your site seems to load slow, slow is a turn off, not everyone has high speed fiber connections

You are also a Tag spammer - limit total Categories & Tags on any one Post to about 12 max

  4. Ok, how could I make it faster? I really don't want to change the format, but are there some tweaks I could work on?

I will try to tag less. It sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't (got 88 views in last 30 minutes) whereas sometimes only 16 in a day.

  6. Thanks, I checked your site and @Timethiefs as well! I appreciate your help! I will tag less :D Anything visual or on content that you recommend?

  7. Do you have your blog set up to automatically publish to Twitter and Facebook? Both of these are helpful if you also work on increasing your following on those sites.

While there is a black market for "followers" on Twitter, the best way to increase real followers who are interested in what you have to say is to participate -- reply, retweet, favorite other people's tweets.

I have my site set up to feed Twitter, but not Facebook. Twitter is set up to feed Facebook, so it goes to Facebook through Twitter.

LOL :D I took some time off to changeover three computers to new ones.

Autoposting using Publicize http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/ or other apps can be used and sharing links can be provided http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

Autoposting is it is not as effective as you may surmise. It's impersonal and now we sort those who spam us with autoposts from those who take the time to make the effort to communicate by manually posting unique teasers to each social network. We are looking for actual readers and they way to secure them is not by autoposting the same snippet and link across multiple social networks. that was yesterday and today is a new day. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/05/28/auto-posting-to-social-media-sites-or-not/

If you want to increase traffic then don't listen to anyone who professes there are passive ways of doing that. Increasing traffic to a blog is hard work. If you want your blog to rank well in search engine results then that begins with creating and publishing original content ie. unique content that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet.

Two ways of attracting like-minded subscribers are (1) commenting meaningfully and frequently on blogs with similar content and (2) being active on social networking sites.

If you are using a WordPress.com theme good SEO is a given. However, going beyond the theme what the blogger has done within that structure is worth evaluating. Whether you write informative, persuasive or controversial content learning how search engines work, and how to apply basic SEO to you content will benefit your blog as it will increase traffic from targeted readers. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/10/21/two-seo-videos-for-bloggers/

  9. P.S. I apologize for any typos above. I'm suffering from eyestrain right now.

  10. I tried googling "Germany abroad ciee" (without quotation marks) , which is one of the search terms you mentioned being on page 1 for. Your blog appeared on page 7. With quotation marks, your blog doesn't appear in the results, period.

I stopped reviewing the results for "traveling abroad" after page 5.

So... it's not that people are skipping over you. It's that they don't know you exist. Therefore, follow the advice given by the others.

Following up on what bumblepuppies posted your blog is very new and has yet to catch much search engine interest and traffic from them. It takes weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL. What attracts search engines is unique content the cannot in posts that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly will attract search engine attention but for more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don't feel panicky about this please.

Note also that WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines - we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines

  12. Good God, I thought I did index it! I checked and it's NOT indexed (did it in July). How do I index on Yahoo! and Google ? Please help!!!

  13. I have google webmaster but it's not indexed. Why not?

It was quite a long time (over two years) before my blog started to get many views. At first I didn't do much to promote it. When I started using some of the ideas like those above, it started to increase (it is still only around 200/day, but I'm fairly happy with that).
I think the things that helped most were posting regular material that was my own (in particular one of my posts generates quite a lot of the views), becoming involved in some discussion in LinkedIn, and providing suggestions for other posts people might like to read.
    Good luck!
P.S. As always, thanks Timethief for your detailed response.
