I kind of modified the standard theme that comes with wordpress but now I want to remove the header text
that is displayed over my shiny new header image. I tried doing it from admin control and I can't figure out
anything there (unless I'm missing something). Is there a file somewhere I can just edit the text out or
something.

Its not uploaded to my server yet, I'm tuning it up on my localhost first before I upload it. Can I give you a screen shot?

If you're uploading it to a server you're not hosted by WordPress.com and so you're in the wrong forum. You need to be over at WordPress.ORG, as our software works differently from yours.
