"Girl in Green" - Semi-transparent veil over photos

    Hi there,

    I was wondering if anyone knows how to best remove the semi-transparent "veil" that goes over all of the images on the homepage of the "girl in green" theme? It tends to make all of the photos look very washed out, and I'm hoping there is some way of changing this.

    Have you purchase a custom design upgrade so you can do the required CSS editng?

    Hi there,

    I haven't purchased the custom design upgrade as yet. Do you know if I will definitely be able to remove this "veil" with the editing?

    Definitely yes, but why not switch to a better theme?

    Good point! I think I just really like the "girl" in the corner. Other than that, not a huge fan.

    Any suggestions on a theme that's really pleasing to the eye, yet user-friendly (as girl in green is/was)? :)

    Oops! I forgot to say that the image and theme are free. So you can use that image and resize it to whatever size you want. Go here > http://theme.wordpress.com/ and try out some themes. Note there are live demo site links for each theme there.

    In my opinion Girl in Green is one of the worst designed wordpress.com themes (second only to Rounded), and the sooner you get rid of it the better. As timethief pointed out, in most themes you can add your own image as a background (or in the sidebar).

    And most themes work the same: there's nothing in Girl in Green that makes it more user-friendly than the rest.

    Oh wow! Thanks so much for the input. I will likely use the "green girl" as an image file at some point.

    I was going through the themes and noticed that:

    andneutra selecta
    retro fitted
    modularity life
    spring loaded
    parament
    wuwei
    coraline
    greyzd
    manifest

    all caught my eye. Would either of you say that any of these themes are particularly good?
