Google Analytics

  1. Morning,

I am less than a week into WP and am making good progress but I get stuck as well even after searching the forums. Can I add Google Analytics to my site? I had this pretty easily over at blogger.com for obvious reasons and I also found this links for help but it is over 3 years old. Is there something more current or an easy yes or no to this topic?

I like the WP Stats but it doesn't have the geographical feature of Google Analytics which I liked so much.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is davidgisme.com.

  2. Hi! No, we can't. Please see here for details and alternatives:

Also, please note that the article you are quoting does not apply to WordPress.com, because we don't use plugins here:

  3. @davespics - are you sure you are in the right Forum? You have no links to anything hosted here.

  4. @auxclass: davespics gave their URLs (hosted by WP.com) on their very first post on these forums, so I just assumed they were still referring to them.

@davespics: It would be a good idea to link your username to your blog. When you have a minute, follow step 1 of the link auxclass gave you.

  5. Correction... follow step 2.

  6. @davespics

If it is the geographical feature you want, you don't have to use Google Analytics. You could use flagcounter, or similar.

  7. @jessiethought
You are correct we can use other free third party non-Javacript stats programs. If its only geographical data that's desired then we can use flafgounter, whosamungus, feedjit or clustrmaps. If more data is required we can use other programs:

    1. Visitor tracking on WordPress.com blogs
    2. Real time visitor tracking (non-JavaScript) for blogs
    3. getclicky real time stats for wordpress.com blogs
  8. **headesk** I meant flagcounter

  9. Hey Everyone. Thanks so much. I don't want to over-question to these forums...I can't believe I wasn't even linking to my new site. Thanks again.

  10. @davespics
There is no such thing as asking too many questions. If you can't find answers in the (1) tutorial Staff have prepared for new bloggers http://learn.wordpress.com/ and you cannot find answers by (2) using the seachbox in the support documentation which provides results from both the docs and forum threads http://en.support.wordpress.com, then post to the forum and ask your questions here.
