Google Webmaster Tools: Verification
Hi. Trying to install the Webmaster verification meta tag on my site http://www.increasefertilitytips.com as per the instructions in this thread.
In MY Tools page, I only have two options:
Turbo speed up WP
NO option for Webmaster Verifications Tools.
I already have Google Analytics installed and working on my site ... anything I can do to kick start Webmaster...?
Help and advice very much appreciated.
jadewood, your blog is not hosted here at WordPress.com, so the discussion in these forums may not be relevant to your issues.
Wow! Quick reply Andrew - thanks!
Just to clarify then to save myself time now and in the future ...
Based on your reply, this is NOT a general forum for WordPress blog owners UNLESS my blog is hosted with you guys? Is that right...?
In which case, you cannot help me ...?
If so - my bad! I thought this was an open forum and support.
A 2nd 'if so', could you point me in the direction of where I COULD find a solution to my particular problem.
And Merry Christmas!!
/nod to Andrew
Question: "... could you point me in the direction of where I COULD find a solution to my particular problem."
If you are self hosting a wordpress.ORG install on your domain then the correct forum to post to is htttp://wordpress.ORG/support/
Sorry guys, maybe I'm being really dumb here (I've just set up my first blog in the last week, so I AM very green...), but my site is not a wordpress.ORG blog.
From this very page I can go to my account and dashboard which shows my wordpress.COM API key.
What am I failing to understand here ...?
Not trying to be difficult ... just ... one confused lady at the moment, trying to discern a difference a wee bit beyond this fluff head's comprehension!
Please post the complete url for the blog in question starting with http://
The blog linked to your username is this one http://www.increasefertilitytips.com/ and it does not appear to be a wordpress.COM blog. It appears to be a wordpress.ORG blog.
The two are very different. The verification process in our support documentation applies ONLY to wordpress.COM bloggers.
Presuming you're talking to me again, here as requested...
Gotta slip away now, so I'll check any answer tomorrow.
Thanks for your patience!
That is not a WordPress.com blog, and you need to be over at WordPress.ORG
hope this is'nt a silly question
when you say: Google Webmaster Tools: Verification
do you mean the domain verification thats purchased from WP or just webmaster tools
are these the same or two seperate things ?
Let's start with this. Have you set up a Google webmaster's account yet? Yes or No?
not trying to hijack anybodies post but seems alot of people are having the same exact issue as me
@timethief per your suggtio on my earlier post about email i did as followed:
signed up via http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html
at setup (not sure if i clicked
Get started Or, sign up for
Google Apps Premier Edition )
got the email verifications in regards to step 1 and step 2
was unable to get the site ownership verified and now i`m got the email yesteday stating
Google Apps: 7 days left to verify domain ownership
i`m confused on are webmaster tools and gogle apps the same or different
they seem the same to, now what options do i have after the 7 days are up?
hpe this answers for several of us here
IMHO the bottom line here is likely to be contact Staff.
Same problem for my site ! http://wingedwizard.wordpress.com
I've read this thread right through.
I believe I have a wordpress.com blog at
I have read the wordpress google WM tools instructions, but on the Tools page, all I see is Gears and Press This - there are no fields or options on my screen for posting the Google meta tags (I am quite familiar with the Google/Yahoo/Alexa meta tags process).
Your advice appreciated, thanks
Sorry guys, scrub my last post, I am hosted elsewhere so query not relevant on this forum.
My blog is thesmatter.wordpress.com, and I can't get any of the three search engines to verify successfully by cutting and pasting the meta tag into webmaster tools. They all just say they can't verify.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
Yes stop the copying and pasting and try typing in the required information instead.
I tried typing, doesn't work either. Thanks though. Scouring the message boards...
Oops, I'm an idiot...
If you're having the same issues I did, check your privacy settings...mine were blocking search engines.
I'm glad you sorted this. Best wishes for happy blogging. :)
I'm not getting the option to insert metas from any search engine, I only find, at my tools section, the gears option. My blog is hosted at http://www.androidfc.com.br. Can someone please help me? Thank you in advance!
This is the wordpress.com support forum. We provide support for those who have blogs being free hosted by wordpress.com only. That's not a wordpress.com blog you have posted the link for. We can't help you here. Go to the correct forum for your software please > http://wordpress.org/support/
After spending a couple of hours trying to validate my wordpress.com blog, I finally found this forum page and followed the advice of a forum member to submit the blog to sitemap. I was able to do that, for whatever good I hope it will accomplish, but I cannot for the life of me get the validation process to work!
I FINALLY got it verified - by going into the WordPress TOOLS and entering the meta tag that GOOGLE had given me....Whew......I hope this helps someone else now!
I've few blogs with domainname.wordpress.com url(s), verification process works fine for them through Tools -> Webmaster Tools Verification.
I've a blog with URL http://blog.soldoutticketmarket.com/ which is developed using wordpress.com platform. How can I verify this blog at Google Webmaster Tools (and then Yahoo Site Explorer & Bing Webmaster Center).
There is no Tools -> Webmaster Tools Verification in this case. I only get:
-> Turbo: Speed up WordPress
-> Press This
Your kind help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
There verification process we are discussing in this thread has been set up by the 3 major search engines and wordpress.com only for those who have free blogs being free hosted by wordpress.com. The blog you have linked to is NOT a wordpress.com blog.
