googlemaps do not embed, quintus theme

    Has anyone else has problems with embedding googlemaps in the Quintus theme?

    I've read through the support documentation pretty thoroughly on http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/, but if I'm making an oversight please do pick me up on it.

    Embed code for map I'm trying to embed

    after updating wordpress changes to

    This just leaves me with the embed url and the "view larger map" link. Any ideas?

    I have also tried the gigya shortcode which didn't work, I've used it before for a flickr slideshow iframe but I'm a bit of a novice, so could be writing it incorrectly.

    This forum is only for those with free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The site linked to your username here at WordPress.com is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog. If that's the blog you mean then you are using the wrong instructions and posting to the wrong support forum and ought to be posting here instead http://wordpress.org/support/

    Hi Timethief,

    It's the first time I've posted on the forums, and actually had no idea my username is linked to a self-hosted site.

    In the dropdown menu for the post, I had selected http://theoldpostofficestogumber.wordpress.com, but I hadn't noticed this information isn't available on the post.

    the question is regarding this site.

    It sounds like you did it correctly, but when I try posting your code into a test post I get the same error.

    I went to Google maps directly and put in a new address and it worked, so there may have been a problem with the code you received or used.

    Here's what I did: I looked up 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in Google Maps. I clicked the link button and it pulled up the window I have here (screenshot):

    I then copied the code I circled and pasted it into a new post in my HTML Edit window (very important).

    When I published it, it shows up as a map on the live post, and a shortcode in the editor.

    You might try your map again, making sure to follow these steps. You may have done it correctly before, but it's possible you may have missed some code in your copy/paste.

    Hi Jackiedana,

    Problem resolved!

    I'm almost certain that all the code was copied before as I used a select all command.

    However, Looking for the full address rather than just the postal code seems to produce a working code that automatically converts to the shortcode.

    Pretty strange, but glad it's fixed!

    Its personalised, with lots of markers, collaborative... That is why I can´t just send the address... :S

    That could be the issue. I'm not sure how well the embed codes work with that kind of map. At any rate, it sounds more like a Google Maps issue than a WordPress.com one at this point.
