Gravatar and Podcast RSS on WordPress

Just read a thread with almost the exact same issue from 2012?

Can't submit a podcast I'm hosting on LibSyn but posting on my WordPress blog because my Gravatar image is getting into my RSS feed for some reason?

    What's with that?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is theatlatldaily.com.

  2. What I know about podcasting http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/podcasting/ would be lonely on the head of a pin.
I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Hi there,

We have a guide for setting up a podcast from your WordPress.com blog here: Podcasting

Could you send me a link to the feed you're submitting for your podcast? I'd be happy to take a closer look at it.

    Here's the feed !

The Podcast is humming along fine for the most part. But WordPress and/or Gravatar seems to be blocking us from being accepted by iTunes?

  5. Hi there,

WordPress.com RSS feeds can't be submitted directly to iTunes, as they don't have the format that iTunes requires. (We're hoping to launch a built-in podcasting feature that would generate a feed for iTunes, but we don't have a timeline for that at this point.)

Instead, you'll need to use an external feed service like Feedburner to get your feed in the right format for iTunes. We have a guide for that here: Podcasting

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

There seems to be some confusion.

I am not hosting the podcast with WordPress. It's just posted on my blog there as a link. The RSS feed is the one LibSyn provides.

But for some reason something that WordPress is doing is contaminating the RSS?

  7. Hi there,

My apologies for the misunderstanding. Since you're using your domain theatlatldaily.com with your WordPress.com blog, the URL http://theatlatldaily.com/rss redirects to your WordPress.com blog's RSS feed. That may explain the trouble you're having with the podcast feed.

If you want to use the RSS feed from LibSyn, you'll need to use a feed URL that doesn't conflict with your blog's feed. I'm not too familiar with LibSyn, but it looks like they have instructions for managing your RSS feed and the feed URL here:

    http://support.libsyn.com/faqs/rss-general-management/

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that.

Yeah. I hadn't thought of that already...

There's no way to use a different feed/feed addy unless I stop using the URL for the LibSyn feed and the WordPress.com Blog. Which I don't want to do, for obvious reasons.

This would be why I contacted you good folks :) I would like to stay with WordPress but it would be a lot easier to ditch you guys than to ditch LibSyn.

I always have to sit that the 'did you restart it?' Nonsense first.

Yeah. If someone could please remove that URL from that Blog pronto (since it doesn't not allow me to do it myself for some odd and further annoying reason).

And by pronto I mean ASAP.

    Quick like a bunny.

    Yesterday.

Since I am sure I won't be getting my money back hopefully I don't have to wait days for service.

  12. Hi there,

I just refunded your domain mapping purchase and removed your domain theatlatldaily.com from your blog. You can still access the blog at its free WordPress.com address here: http://theatlatldaily.wordpress.com/

Well I do appreciate the refund! That's a step above the level of service I've come to expect.

Still very disappointing that it's so difficult to do something as simple as post my podcast to my blog of the same name :( without it becoming a technical snafu.
