Guided transfer

  I’m interested in purchasing this service but have few questions first. (1) Will all the current email subscribers be transferred over or will they all have to resubscribe? (2) Will the RSS feeds be disrupted?

  Howdy!

  1) There is not a direct equivalent of the WordPress.com subscription system on the self-hosted side at the present time. Because of that, unfortunately, you will need to add your email subscribers to a product like MailChimp or Feedburner after transfer.

  2) Your feed will work fine if you use the Site Redirect upgrade to point your old URL to your new site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/

  How soon can the transfer take place? Do I need to go ahead and purchase the Guided Transfer upgrade now?

  Do you have a preference for either MailChimp or Feedburner?

  I personally prefer MailChimp myself, but Feedburner is a fine service too.
