On another issue: Given your username I think you need to read what follows. No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. Please read this http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/ You will need to hire a web host and set up your own self hosted WordPress.org install if you want to run your own ads on a blog, as doing that here at WordPress.com will result in your blog being suspended.

Is this inserted into every free wp site? I certainly don't have it on any of my paid domains.

Don't worry, the text is harmless and isn't meant to be read by humans.
It isn't injected into your code from any source.
