Harmonic theme: Customizing news in front page

I love the harmonic theme and I’d like to customize it a little more than the preset.
Is it possible for the news section (latest posts) to show also a preview (beginning of text and/or image) than only the title and date?

In some WordPress themes, you are able to activate excerpts, or the ability to shorten your blog posts to a preview or a summary. In excerpts you can customize the text that is displayed. For the image you can set a featured image for your given post.

I was able to activate excerpts by going into my new post screen, clicking on screen options (which is in the upper right hand side of the page) and selecting the ‘Excerpt’ check box. This will open up the ability to use excerpts on your new post page.

It seems that Harmonic theme doesn’t support excerpts.
