Please tell me how to disable infinite scrolling. It is a major PITA for so many reasons. I set the number of blog posts I want to display for a reason, please respect that. I like the theme I have and I do not understand why I am being punished for having made that selection. Please return some control over my blog to me.

The abilty to control the number of post on the front page of your blog has been restored now. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/infinite-scroll-do-we-get-an-opt-out-and-will-this-apply-to-other-themes/page/5?replies=138#post-817272
Also note:
Infinite Scroll is now an option when footer widgets are present. You can find the option under Settings → Reading when two conditions are met:
1. You are using a theme that supports infinite scroll
2. You have added footer widgets http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/disable-infinite-scroll-with-custom-css?replies=20#post-817131
Note: you MUST have footer widgets, even one, for infintite scroll to be disableable.
But many themes like the one I'm using now Iniut Types don't have footer widget areas. :( Sidebars and other widget areas: number and position by theme (free themes only)
Tell me about it.
I just tested this, and on Twenty Eleven, the option to enable/disable does not show up unless you have at least one footer widget.
I can confirm that.
