I understand you can change the header and upload your own. Is there a way to have the header with different pictures, i.e. have it as aslideshow? Along the same lines, could you have a page with a slideshow (automatic)? Thanks for the help.

You can do slide shows: http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/ but not as part of the header. From what I understand, headers have to be static. See this past forum discussion:

Yes: you can create and upload an animated GIF.
many thanks to all... it worked... it took me a lot of time but managed to create and upload an animated GIF. never worked with Photoshop before...
