Heading 2 causes layout problems

  1. To organize the text, I used H2 for main sections and H3 for sub-sections. H1 was too close to the post title size.

The H2 sections show strange artifacting: http://numbertheory.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/experiment-1/. The words "Quotes" and "Testing" are in Heading 2.

I don't understand how the layout engine or the HTML work well enough to figure this out. Any help is appreciated.

  2. Could you be more specific about what you're seeing? Looks just fine to me. What browser are you using?

  3. At home I use FF 2.0, and right now I am at work, using IE 7.0 on Vista.

The problem is that the body text following the H2 words "Quotes" and "Testing" is not on the following line, but begins near the right margin, squeezed in by an invisible box to the left.

I took a screenshot and uploaded it, marking the problem areas:

  4. Hm. I don't understand the problem. Looks fine to me.. :-S

  5. Agreed. Can you give us a visual example of what you WANT to see? What are the "artifacts"?

  6. I've written up a short post which summarizes my conclusions and hopefully explains the behavior I expected.

  7. H2 doesn't appear to be the complete width but I don't have a clue as to why or how to fix it.

  8. So either the guy who wrote the theme is a genius or something needs to be changed. Raincoaster, if you look at this page again, do you now see what I'm talking about?

  9. Interesting. Yes, I see what you mean; I saw that before, but thought it was deliberate on your part. Send in a report to Support with all details, but don't hold your breath on getting that fixed soon. If I were you I'd simply line-edit the HTML to emulate Heading and put an Enter after it to start the new line.
