I am having a similiar problem.
The space for editing won't open up and is so narrow (1st row) and does not move or scroll to input text on creating or editing a page.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:
http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

Move your mouse to the lower right hand corner of the text box (you will see two diagonal lines). Your mouse should change to the Resize pointer (double arrows). Click and drag and you can re-size the box to whatever size you like.

Thank you so much. I was just dumbfounded about what had happened.
This should go into some tip or something. I spent 30 minutes researching before I posted.

None of this advise worked for me ... my company had to file a ticket with WordPress. I appreciate the responses however.
