Help Changing Menu Background Color in Twenty Eleven?

  1. Hi all!

    Like many here I am learning CSS chops. I've been trying like the dickens to change the background color in the menu bar and I'm having no luck at all.

    This is what I'm adding in the custom CSS (I do have the premium bundle that permits Custom CSS and the blog is hosted by the fantastical WordPress)

    #nav .current_page_item a, #nav li:hover > a, #nav ul ul:hover > a {
    background: #39176b;
    }

    Can anyone help?

    The blog I need help with is kinectshare.wordpress.com.

  2. This is the main background (edit colors as desired).

    #access {
    background: #CC0000 !important;
    }

    This would be the background color on the individual tabs where hovered

    #access li:hover > a, #access ul ul:hover > a, #access a:focus {
    background: #39176b !important;
    }

    This would be the text color on hover.

    #access li:hover > a, #access a:focus {
    color: #373737;
    }

    This would be the non-hover background color for dropdowns and the font color.

    #access ul ul a {
    background: #CC0000;
    color: #444444;
    }
  3. Ok, so I added all of that, but still no dice.

    This is all the Custom CSS I'm putting into the stylesheet

    '}
    #access {
    background: #06633 !important;
    }
    #access li:hover > a, #access ul ul:hover > a, #access a:focus {
    background: #06633 !important;
    }
    #access li:hover > a, #access a:focus {
    color: #06633 ;
    }
    #access ul ul a {
    background: #06633 ;
    color: #444444;
    }

    #branding #s {
    display:none;
    }

    #branding .only-search + #access div {
    padding-right:0;
    }

    #site-generator {
    display:none;
    '

  4. Hex color codes have 6 digits. #06633 only had 5 digits. You have to correct that otherwise those colors will be ignored.

    Since your site is set to private, I have to work off the demo site so I can't check your site. Correct the color code and see if that doesn't do it.

  5. OMG - DOH! Yes! That did it! Thanks so much! You rock!

  6. You are welcome.
