Help Changing WordPress Domain Name to New Domain

  1. Hi

I am having some real issues transfering my wordpress site (www.cyclingletour.wordpress.com) to my new domain name I have registered http://www.onedayahead.co.uk with 123reg.com
I have searched the forums long and hard but I think it is simply my lack of understanding that is runining me!
Do I have to pay 123reg.com to host the site as they are asking for £50 or is their another way of using the domain name?

I have paid the money to wordpress to allow me to use the external site but I really dont want to lose the use of WordPress, which has been superb and export it all elsewhere.

Help, its all for a good charity cause!

    Thanks

    Jamie

The blog I need help with is cyclingletour.wordpress.com.

  2. You can map your new domain name to your blog here - $ 12-- US / year

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

You will need a zone record added for your name to work - I will flag this for the staff to add a zone record.

You can host your site on 123reg if you want and use WordPress.ORG software - you would need to export your content from WordPress.COM and import it to your .ORG install on 123reg - BUT you then have to fix the site yourself or hire it done

Could you go to this page:
    https://cyclingletour.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Then, update your custom domain as the primary domain.
