I just bought a new theme from themeforest (responsive chocolate theme) and I want to install it. Do I have to purchase wordpress pro to do this? I am a complete beginner and this is so confusing.
The manual that came with the theme says I should be able to click "Appearence" and then "Install Theme" and "Upload."

You are limited to the 220++ themes you find in your Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes
You can not upload outside themes - it is a security and features issue - the themes here are highly modified to give you more features than a standard theme - lots and lots of extra widgets to make up for the you can't do Plug-in's here either
You should ask for a refund - you have made a common error
