HELP - switching domains from wp.com to wp.org within 30-day purchase of bundle

    Hi there,

    I bought the wordpress.com value bundle a few days ago, and set my domain name yesterday. I then (stupidly and obviously too late) decided to switch to self hosting on wordpress.org.

    Sorry for the n00b question, but does anyone have any input as to whether it's better to just cancel my whole wordpress.com bundle or go through the process of switching my domain from wp.com to wp.org? will i lose my domain if i cancel my wp.com bundle? more importantly, do i even need the bundle if i am self-hosting? no need to waste $99 if it's useless on wp.org.

    thank you! soon i hope to be a wp expert but for now i'm floundering in the dark.

    DON'T CANCEL THE DOMAIN NAME - it can be several weeks before it reverts to the wild where you can buy it again and someone else can grab it and use the name or hold it hostage

    You can cancel PART of the upgrade and keep the name and point the name servers to your new host
