Help with changing the CSS in theme Ryu. header and font size

  1. Hi
    I need some help with changing the CSS on a couple of things on my blog - I really don't have a clue what Im doing! I am using the theme Ryu and my blog is http://madebyamelia.com

    1. I want to reduce the header size so it doesn't spread across the whole page
    2. I want to change the font size in the body of my posts. I have tried to do this a couple of times but it hasn't worked so far
    3. I want to remove the category being shown above every blog post title
    4. I want to show my other social media icons just under my header (right now they aren't showing up anywhere on the page...)

    I would be so grateful of any help you can give me!

    The blog I need help with is madebyamelia.com.

  2. Hi there,

    To adjust the side of your header use the following CSS and adjust the percentage do the desired size:

    #masthead .wrap {
        max-width: 70%;
    }

    Next, to adjust the font size of the body of your posts, use this code:

    div.entry-content {
        font-size: .9em;
    }

    An em is just a relative measurement for fonts. Basically, 1em is 100% of the font's current size. Any number larger than 1 will make the font larger and any number smaller than 1 will make the font smaller.

    Next, to get rid of the category name above the post titles, add this to your CSS:

    span.categories-links {
        display: none;
    }

    As for the social media icons, I'm not sure you'll be able to put them right below the header in your theme. The only way I'm aware of to add your own social media icons is by using a widget, and the widget sections for your theme are in the drop down menu at the top.

    If you want to put your icons in that menu, you can learn how do to that on the support site:

    Add Social Media Buttons to Your Sidebar or Footer

    Hope this helps!

  3. Wow thanks so much that has been a great help!
