After experimenting with gravatars and the like, the icon to the left of the "My Account" tab at the top of the screen is always a custom green avatar. I think when I post a comment, it would show that green icon too.
Also, do changes made to gravatars take a long while before being featured on my blog?

Exactly... it's that green icon again. I've been visiting "Appearance" many times and I still cannot change it.
Okay, yay that I've got the comment avatar working but the other problems are still not resolved.
