HELP with email! MX settings for domain email not working

  1. I need help with an issue i'm having with receiving emails and setting up MX records correctly on WP.
Here's what i've done so far:
    1. I set up a new domain (americangnh.com) with WordPress.
    2. I then signed up with Weebly to manage this domain and content.
    3. Later, I set up a Google Apps gmail account for the following address: qiao@americangnhdotcom.
    4. I made DNS changes on WordPress, following WP AND google instructions. I made these changes to redirect email to Google servers:

    MX 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
    MX 10 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    MX 10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
    TXT google-site-verification=m-eqRllHnAcmZDEtNJlBX1bMtTvrMqfSUDeGBDqZvPI
    TXT v=spf1 include:aspmx.googlemail.com ~all

5.Two days later after these changes, and the changes still haven't propogated (I checked using the google.toolbox).

Could you please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

My Google apps account is : qiao@ americangnhdotcom
I got the domain, americangnh.com, originally from WordPress, but I'm now using Weebly to maintain the website.

I did a test and emails are still bouncing back and not going to qiao@americangnhdotcom

The blog I need help with is americangnh.com.

  2. Anyone? Any help

  3. I have flagged this for staff attention and a second opinion

Your name servers are pointing to Godaddy - so the MX records you add here will never be seen

I think you need to make the changes for the MX records at either Godaddy or more likely at Weebly since that is where your site is hosted and the domain is managed -

It looks like however that the MX records are set for email on Godaddy

Are you sure you are hosted on Weebly? Looks like you might be on Godaddy

And you might be in the wrong forum for the help you need

  4. I am definitely hosting and making website changes on Weebly. Coul d you please direct me to the correct WP forum? I'm going to send Weebly a message

  5. Since you don't seem to be using WordPress.ORG software (the "other" WordPress) then sending you there would not help

Weebly would be a good place to also ask - the staff here is very good and since your domain name is registered here that should get help to point you in the right direction

I have never used used Weebly and are not familiar with how to set things up for them or how to offer any more help than I gave above

  6. @lizqiao89: Since your domain's nameservers are pointing to Weebly, you won't be able to set up email on your domain through WordPress.com.

Entering the MX data you gave us brings up this warning upon saving:

Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. If you have already updated the nameservers you can ignore this message; it will stop appearing soon.

Since your nameserver records are pointing to Weebly and not WordPress.com, you will not be able to use your domain for email unless you move your domain to a hosting provider that provides email hosting - like GoDaddy or DreamHost.

As the domain was purchased June 25, 2014, you will need to wait for the ICANN required 60-day transfer lock to expire before you can proceed with the transfer. Here's more information on this lock for your reference: http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registrars/transfers/name-holder-faqs

The guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

Once the transfer is complete, you will be able to configure your email MX records.

I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.
