Help with navigation please

  • Hi i am having some trouble setting up some basics on my new blog yorkshirepate.wordpress.com. I would like to:

Have some simple nav on the LHS / or at the top of the page eg:

ABOUT YORKSHIRE PATE [links to page with my ‘about’ info]
CATEGORIES [ list of post categories – have sort of figured this one out, but can’t seem to undertstand how you change the category of a post once you’ve set it]
LINKS [ ie links to other sites / blogs]

I’m a little confused about the difference between a page and a post, so if you could advise I’d really appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Yorkshire Pate

  • You need to write those pages to get them to show up. Here’s a post I did covering the differences between posts and pages. The categories won’t exist until you’ve tagged a post with that category. And they should show up in the sidebar; we don’t get to pick where they display, short of buying the CSS upgrade and tinkering with the design code.

  • Thank you prof, further faffing around while i awaited your reply led to some resolutions of the problem, and your tutorial helped too!
