steviejonesThe website domain name is about to expire and I don't want to renew, as I have purchased a better name from easily website(not WP). I run the village website on the existing name at the moment. I want to change the site address now, or be ready to change it before the old one expires.
I am struggling here, as mapping domains is a foreign language to me, I have only been using WP for 8 weeks. Pages and Posts are still confusing!
Ok, at the moment, I have gone to Easily website and entered the WP code into the DNS management server boxes.There were 3 codes that WP supplied on the Mapping a domain page. Now I know to go to Store<Domain and register the bought domain. But thats as far as I can go. Can someone help me here?

1) we need the WordPress.com URL, starting with http
2) we need the new domain URL, starting with http.
Then we can tell you what to do and if it's working.

http://oxtonchannel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ is WP url (i hope)
http://oxtonchannel.org.uk/ is the existing
http://www.oxtonchannelkirk.com will be the new address I want to have as the main one.

Your URL won't have www in it when it's at WordPress.com.

You say you get to a certain point, then it stops. Could you tell us if you get an error message, what you see on the page, etc?

I think that it is okay now. I paid to upgrade and made http://oxtonchannelkirk.com the primary address.
If I click on the old address it automatically transfers to the new. -
