Home and About tabs have disappeared - how to get them back? (Vigilance)

  1. Hi,

I'm a WordPress noob. I think I managed to delete the tabs 'Home' and 'About' from my blog (vigilance theme) when I was first building it and now I want them back. I can't figure out how though. AFAICT they should never have disappeared anyway (hard wired into the theme) - is that right?

What did I do and how can I get them back?!

    Any help much appreciated! x

The blog I need help with is windmillseverywhere.wordpress.com.

  2. Go to Appearance>Menus, select the blank option from the pulldown in the Theme Locations module (so that the theme will revert to its regular header menu), Save.

  3. Thanks so much panaghiotisadam, that worked a treat ...... the only problem *now* is that ALL of my pages now appear as tabs under the header! (I've left it so you can see)

Sorry, but how do I stop that? I want most of my pages to appear in the side bar only (which they still do).

So basically, I'd really like to know how get it to differentiate between a page appearing as a tab and a page NOT appearing as a tab?

Sorry to be such an idiot. Thanks in advance! x

  4. Sorry, you didn't mention you had more pages and I didn't check what your sidebar items were. Go to Appearance>Menus, create a new menu, add the pages you want from the Pages module, and select that menu from the TL pulldown. More detailed instructions here:

  5. I couldn't figure out where to ask this question in the right place, so I stuck it here.
I've been using WordPress for quite a while and it's been working great.
Just recently I've had a problem when I 'Save'. It will not save what I just typed in.
Sometimes it leaves out several sentences or even paragraphs.
I've been doing the same thing for almost a year now with no problems, but it is aggravating. Maybe a plug-in I added? I tried to deactivate a couple of the recent ones and try again, but no luck.
I just want to get back to the way it was, nothing extra, nothing special.
    Thanks for any help.

  6. Oh..and my website is: http://texaninthephilippines.com

  7. @johnwjr7, sorry, you need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently.

If you do not know the difference, see this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .
