I am trying to edit how my widget bar works on the left side of the "home" page but when I look under "Pages" in my dashboard "home" is not shown as one of my pages. How to I find it? or why is it not there?

The blog I need help with is rwanda20yearsago.com.

  2. Your widgets are installed and removed here > Appearance > Widgets

  3. This is the front page of your blog by default http://rwanda20yearsago.com/

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page.

If you want to have a static front page then you need to create two pages first. The second one is for published posts to display on. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Can I have my home page just show previews of posts and the viewer must click on them to read the whole post?

  5. Yes. See the guide for inserting "the more tag" into Posts, not Pages here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/#using-the-more-tag

  6. So I cant have my front page and posts page be the same? Id like the front page to be the "home" page but also the posts to show up as a preview and the viewer can click read more to view the whole post. Is this not possible?

  7. Yes, you can do that. See the guide for inserting "the more tag" into each of your Posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/#using-the-more-tag

  8. If you prefer you can select to use a theme that automatically displays post excerpts on the front page.

  9. Can I have my front page be my posts page too? its says they shouldnt be.

  10. Your front page by default is the only Page in the blog that displays all published posts. Do you comprehend that?

  11. I do not think that I do. It has either been a static home page or the post page( showing all posts and pages ).

  12. Yes, those are the two choices you can make.

  13. So I have to chose between the two? I cant do both?

  14. No you cannot do both. It's one or the other. Please read this entry http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  15. Ok cool. Last question I changed my theme to make it more of what I want but is there a why to get there to be a thumbnail image on the preview of the posts on the front page?

  16. You will have to use the Text HTML editor to include a thumbnail and create your excerpts manually one at a time then because that will not happen on that theme automatically.

You compose your whole post first and before you publish it you switch to the HTML (Text) editor, copy the code of the excerpt including any thumbnail image code, paste it into the Excerpt box, and publish the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts
This will have to be done on every post.

Great i think I figured that out. When you go to my posts I want the comments directly under the post. Is there a way to move the "sharing" options to the bottom of the page, underneath the comments?
