Home page, showing Categories?

  1. Yup, I'm back with a few more questions....you guys don't get paid enough for this.
I was wondering a few things about the site.....

    1. Can you make the home page show Categories instead of pages? I have a Category named "news" that I want to show up on the home page...but only the posts from that category. Is this possible?

    2. Is it possible to have certain categories only show only post per page, though not make it that way for all of them? I want to make some guides and stuff, but I don't want 10 posts on every page...only one for that category.

    3. When you click on a Category, the posts come up with all the text. But, it doesn't show my pictures and everything. For that, I must click on the post name (which opens the new post, but doesn't show any others...). Is there a way I can make the category show all content without having to click on it?

    4. Is there a way to post on pages? I can't ever simply post on a page I made-it always has to be in a category.

That's it for now, but I might have more later... <_<

In fact, we don't get paid at all. We are Volunteers.

    (1) No.

    (2) No.

    (3) No.

    (4). No.

  3. Wow, really specific. Is there a way I can change any of that?

  4. No

  5. (4) On a blog only one page is dynamic and will automatically update with new posts you make. You can change which page this is but only one page will automatically update.

Pages are static. They sit outside the blog structure and categories cannot be assigned to Pages. You can edit any Page you create and manually update it and that in fact is the only way you can alter a Page.

  6. All of the things you want to do are possible if you host your own installation of WordPress using the software from WordPress.org. There is an explanation of the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

  7. re: 1) You could always make a text widget, set it at the top of the sidebar and call it NEWS! CLICK HERE BABY! or whatever, and link it to your category.
