    I'm sure this has been covered before. I've looked and I've read. But I'm thick. Real thick. So I'm going to seek clarification in my own way and hope you guys will forgive questions already asked and answered. I have a blog as you can see. I want to legally sell things that I make in my basement. I want to show these things to the world on my blog. I want to boast about my things from my blog. I want to embed youtube vids on my blog. Most importantly I want to sell from my blog via PayPal or whatever else comes along. After reading the TOS I just wasn't sure I could do these things with wordpress EVEN with an upgrade which would convert me to ProjectCNC.com. So I went to GoDaddy.com. Sucks. Went to JustHost.com. Sucks too. I know and love the ease of wordpress posting and their templates. So can I do all these things with an upgrade? I most definitely would be advertising my things as well as recommending and linking to other products.

    The blog I need help with is projectcnc.wordpress.com.

    The only place you can get a definite, binding, for absolute, certain answer to those questions is from staff.

    You must realize that most of us are your fellow bloggers, volunteers, who have no more say in how wp.com operates than you do.

    I agree with Tess and believe you ought to contact Staff directly.

    I want to legally sell things that I make in my basement. I want to show these things to the world on my blog. I want to boast about my things from my blog.

    The only paypal buttons we can use on wordpress.com free hosted blogs is the paypal donation button. We cannot have shopping carts.

    Purchasing a domain and domain mapping does not change anything, if your blog is free hosted by wordpress.com.

    Before Upgrading
    The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

    Not sure why you say sux about godaddy and justhost (I know 0 about either), but are you aware that you can use wordpress.ORG free software on those and other hosting IPs ?

    But you still need hosting, Tess. There are hosting recommendations over at WordPress.ORG so you're not stuck with nodaddy etc.

    Oh! no! I know the OP would need to find an acceptable host! I didn't mean to imply otherwise.

    I just don't know anything about GoDaddy or JustHost and why they "suck!"

    (must be nice not to be a visual thinker and not have those images in one's mind…)

    As I said, I know zilch about self hosting a blog, but GoDaddy is one that wp.ORG has listed…

    The website where I work is hosted by NetscapeSolutions, but then we are a very small non-profit with low traffic, & not a blog… They seem ok. A bit clunky.

    You can see a long list of problems with GoDaddy at http://nodaddy.com I believe. They're not a good host and I wouldn't even buy a domain name from them.

    Recommended hosts are found here http://wordpress.org/hosting however there are many others. Myself and some other blogger friends are happily hosted by A Small Orange.

    But wp.ORG continues to list GoDaddy as among:
    "… some of the best and brightest of the hosting world."

    So.
    Are you telling me that I shouldn't believe everything I read online??!!! LOL

    OK. What do you know about NetscapeSolutions?
