I am having trouble getting my old username back. Somehow last year my username changed when I added a new site. After a year neglecting WordPress (much to busy at school) I have returned and ha forgotten that my username had changed and now I want it back. But when I try to change my name it says that the username has already been taken.
Am I doing something wrong or have I just waited too long?

Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for anyone else to use.
I never authorized a change in the first place. It happened when I added a site.
It seems to happen when people change blog URL's. I'll flag this for staff attention.

Were you referring to a different blog? If so, what is the URL?
I know that but when i created hawks008ictdg.wordpress.com somehow the username changed and i would like it be my original wordpress username which is hawks008.
When you created the blog, you selected to change your username to match and delete the previous name.
Unfortunately, as per the warnings, delete names cannot be recovered.
