How are your blogs included in the search engine?

  1. When using the search engine, my blogs do not appear under "results." For example, I wrote a recent blog about Kelp, and it did not appear under the search results of "kelp." Please let me know how my blog can be included under the search engine. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is raisafe.wordpress.com.

  2. Do you mean Google or the WordPress search?

  3. Google knows about your "kelp" post - part of the problem is that a search for "kelp" returns "About 9,830,000 results " - did you check all of them??

Search on the Post title give your Post. "That’s A Whole Lot of Kelp, Fella."

One problem with all search engines is getting lost with all the other sites that have the same key words etc.

  4. Use the link above, webmaster tools, it works, but it takes time. According to Google sometimes it takes weeks for a crawler to peek into your site.

  5. @maaark
That's correct. It does take time so it's important to get a Google webmasters account and verify your blog ownership withe the search engines using the tools provided. There are 10 factors that may expedite indexing by search engines and you will find them in this post. > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

  6. Thanks for all the replies.

I meant on wordpress search. I understand that it would take time to show up on google search engine. I have tags for my blogs, and when I click on those, my blog shows up along with other blogs with similar content (on wordpress). However, in the "search wordpress.com" (this site, all sites next to it) search engine, my blog does not appear, even though it is more recent then the blogs listed. Is there a way to expedite this process?

    Thank you!

  8. Hello!

I verified that all my security settings are public. When I search, for example, Kelp, my blog does not show up directly in the results, but there is a tag "kelp" on the side, and my blog is listed under that. Interesting...

I will be sure to email support staff. Thank you for all your help!

  9. The categories and tags you assign to your posts that appear either at the top of the post or bottom depending on the theme used are all linked to the wordpress.com global tag pages for the relevant "category" or tags" you assign. When you place a tags or categories widget in your sidebar the links there will direct only to the content in your own blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/

  10. I am still confused as to what I need to do to have my blog show up under the general search.wordpress.com search engine, under specific search criteria like "KI" or "Kelp." I understand the concept of tagging, but from what I understand, the global tag pages only feature some of the articles with those tags.

  12. Every post we publish that we assign tags or categories or both to will be found in the wordpress.com global tagging pages. they are displayed there in accord with their original date/time stamps.

If your posts are not appearing on the global tag pages and none of the reasons for missing posts describe your situation as expressed here then you must contact Staff directly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/#missing-posts

  13. Wonderful! Thank you very much.

Also, one more question. I would like to network by commenting on blogs with similiar areas of interest, and stay updated with consequent comments using rss feeds. How do I add the feed to my dashboard? I know you add /feed/ to the end of the url, but where is this url stored/added? Thank you!
