  2. Hye robert,

    Hi there,
    I'll check that out too.
Is it possible to create a slideshow in the header without a plugin? As I understand that in WP.com you can't install plugins.
I've searched how to do it without plugins and I've got my slideshow lined up courtesy of Picasa but now I've drawn a blank.

Please do NOT ever post any links to the codex which is only for WordPress>ORG installs into forum threads here at WordPress.COM. Doing so causes confusion as the two are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

The theme description is here >http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/retro-fitted/
The header size is stated there as: The header image is 1020 wide by 150 tall. But the size stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/#supported-themes is: Retro-fitted 980 x 150 pixels

Upload the image here > Appearance > Header
Instructions are found in the support docs here > custom image header http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/

Is it possible to create a slideshow in the header without a plugin?

It is not possible here at WordPress.com to create a slideshow in a header in any theme that's not already designed to have one in the first place like Modularity Lite is designed. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/

Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup, PHP code, or content. If you require this functionality, please consider moving your blog to a web host that supports theme code modifications, suitable hosts can be found here. http://wordpress.org/hosting/ Read more about why here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ FTP access, and plugins are available only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.
