   Hi
   We purchased a theme (TrueNorth) and developed our site at http://www.stmungo.co.za.

   But
   in order to get to grips with WordPress and how it works, what it can do, what the different element mean (eg. post, page etc - I'm a complete novice) I used the TwentyEleven template and had great fun learning what all the different themes, widgets, menus meant without endangering the Main website.

   I see this theme has greater functionality than the one I purchased and I prefer the look and feel of it too, so now I want to replace all the files from http://www.stmungo.co.za with the new one at stmungosunitedchurch.wordpress.com.

   So now ....
   What do I do?
   How do I do it?
   Is it something that I can do or something the person who originally setup our site (at http://www.stmungo.co.za) must do?
   I'm very new to WordPress (which is why I spent some time 'playing') and a lot of the jargon is quite foreign to me.
   I contacted our web hosting service provider (MWeb) and they suggested a site http://www.charleslau.com/blog/how-to-transfer-wordpress-from-one-server-to-another/ ... but I'm not sure what they're on about.

   Please can someone help me?

   http://www.stmungo.co.za/ is a WordPress.ORG blog, and you can use themes you get from elsewhere on that.

   stmungosunitedchurch.wordpress.com is a WordPress.COM blog, and on that blog you can only use the themes that you see on that blog's dashboard under Appearance.

   So, if you want to use that theme you bought, you'll have to use it on the first blog. If you want to move the contents of the second blog to the first blog and amalgamate them under http://www.stmungo.co.za/ then just go to the Dashboard Tools page and hit Export. Then on http://www.stmungo.co.za/ go to Dashboard Tools and clickk Import. Then set the WordPress.com blog to Private.

   Hey Raincoaster,
   Thank you so much for your prompt reply ... and what seems to be an easy to follow set of instructions.

   I went to blog#2 and did the Export and got the following message ...

   It opened up Internet Explorer and displayed:

   The XML page cannot be displayed
   Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   The operation completed successfully. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Documents and Settings/Lisa/Local Settings/Temp...

   <atom:link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" href="http://stmungosunitedchurch.wordpress.com/osd...

   .....

   It sounds to me like the Export was ok, but am concerned about the error thereafter, is that just because it was opening up in IE8 (i usually use Mozilla firefox - if that means anything).

   I just want to check before I go import the file on the "live site" and if there is an error I don't want to crash/corrupt Blog#1.

   Oh and of interest .... when I go to blog#1 http://www.stmungo.co.za and click on Tools .. there are none, besides "press this".

   Um, now what?

   Well, it sounds like you are not the admin on the .co.za blog. You will need to contact support at your web host there to complete the import. There should be help as well at WordPress.ORG for that.

   Ah ok, thank you so much - you've really helped to clarify things for me. Pity, I thought I was the admin ... I have passwords :) to the wp/admin aspect. I'll try to find out from the web host, and will check with the .ORG as well, tomorrow.

   Whereas I just got up. You're welcome, it should go smoothly once you clarify with your web host what you want to do.
