How can I import translations to my blog?

  1. Hello,

How can I import unapproved translations to my blog from Glotpress?
(I want to import translations of English words on the theme)

I click "Permalink to this translation" on the translations page, and then press Export (.po is selected). Is that correct what I do?

The blog I need help with is otomobilgunlugu.com.

  3. Hello there,

The import/export function in GlotPress can only be used with self-hosted sites as it requires a plugin, and plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites.

However, you can still copy and paste to add translations from GlotPress to your WordPress.com blog.

If utilizing all GlotPress' functions is important to you, you might consider moving to a self-hosted site.

This document explains the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and may help you with your decision:

  4. Hi,

It seems like I wasn't using the right terms.

What I wanted to ask was after all how can I add translations to my blog.

So according to your answer, I need to copy and paste translations. How can I do that?

"Tagged:" is the title for tags at the end of each post. I want to have the translation of "Tagged". Just like that, I want to change the "Post Your Thoughts" writing on the comment box. Another example is the default text in search boxes. In my theme, the default text is "Type & Hit Enter". Is it possible to change that phrase?

  5. Hello,

As the language of your blog is Turkish, I recommend adjusting the language settings of your site:

First, adjust the language settings for the interface seen by readers. This will change the language of your tags into Turkish automatically:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/language-settings/

You can also change the language of your Dashboard by clicking Users. In your Profile settings, you'll see the label "Interface language." Change that into the language with which you'd like to maintain your site.

I need to copy and paste translations. How can I do that?

You would copy the translation you mentioned in your first post: "How can I import unapproved translations to my blog from Glotpress?"

Then, you would paste it into the window of you Post/Page editor.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much and happy blogging!

  6. Hello,

The blog language is set as Turkish, but some phrases are still in English.

I didn't quite understand you explanation. Just to clarify, I want to change the phrases come by the theme, not the phrases in sentences of my posts.

What should I copy in GlotPress? For example what should I do to change "Tagged" in this page?
Copy what, and paste where in the page editor?

    Thanks for your help!

  8. Hello again,

The best route to take, if you haven't already, is for you to submit all your suggested translations to Glotpress. Once the Turkish-language monitors approve them, we can adjust them for you throughout your site.

We do need that approval as making the changes will not only adjust your blog, but all Turkish-language WordPress.com sites. Other Turkish-speaking bloggers will also benefit from the action you're taking. Thank you very much!

If you need assistance during the submission process, please refer to the following: http://en.support.wordpress.com/glotpress/ http://en.support.wordpress.com/translation-faq/

I hope this helps! Best wishes to you.
