How can I protect my images?

  1. I would like to know if I can protect my images from being downloaded, copied or other types of unsolicited use. If anyone has any answers I'd be really grateful.

The blog I need help with is wraphael.wordpress.com.

  2. The only real way to keep people from stealing your photos, is to not post them publicly. Even if you code them to disable "right click/copy" there are easy work-arounds.

You can watermark them and make them less desirable, and include a very detailed copyright statement on your blog. That won't stop any one who really wants your images, but it might slow them down.

  3. Thanks for replying to my question. I guessed as much. The ease with which people can download photos is one reason that I don't post photos from important projects until they're finished, or well-underway.
Photoshelter has some good measures, and if you try to download a photo from one of the sites that they host you just get a URL link.

Will look to watermark my photos. Do you know the best company to register with?

    Many thanks again.

  4. This may help you locate free watermarking http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/19/watermark-your-blog-images/

NOTE: If you use the Duotone theme right click is disabled. It's not available on any other themes and will not become available as it creates a false sense of security. Anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat.

  5. I use a free photo editing program to watermark my photos. I'm not sure where you could register a watermark copyright/trademark on photos. My photos are more amateur hobbyist.

You could also use something like Copyscape or Google Image search to find out if your photos are being used without your permission.

I hope some of this helps. Perhaps more knowledgable volunteers could offer better advice.

  6. The post I linked to above has 4 free watermarking sources.

  7. Thank you, timethief. I hoped you would chime in.

  8. @ifmomsaysok
You're welcome. I'm loving your images. I just tweeted the most recent one.

  9. @timethief, thank you so much.

  10. I liked dust devil too and you're welcome.

  11. Thank you (both of you) for your advice. I will investigate the link and the other tips. I'll let you know how I get on. Many thanks again :)

  12. You're welcome and best wishes.
