How can I recover the missing text of a draft when I see no Revisions module?

  1. My computer crashed. When I rebooted, the draft came back with only the title -- all of my text is missing. There is no Revisions module visible at the bottom, and there is no Revisions option in Screen Options. The draft post is called "How to Decide Where to Live."

The blog I need help with is raywoodcockslatest.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi see a post with that title - were you able to get it restored?

  3. False alarm. I feel silly admitting it, but I forgot: I had been trying a new approach. I was composing HTML in Microsoft Word for later transfer to WordPress. Under such circumstances, I believe the proper question is, Did the Word doc somehow magically disappear from my hard drive, or was it right there where I left it, when I finally brought my brain online and opened the doc? And that would be a good question.

  4. I'm sorry but we can't answer questions about files own your own computer.

  5. Microsoft WORD is not web compliant. I suggest you use windowslivewriter because you will then have an automatically created backup on your own computer of every post and page you create in it and publish to your blog from it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/

  6. Glad you were able to get the post back.

was it right there where I left it, when I finally brought my brain online and opened the doc?

Can't say for sure, of course, but that would be my guess. ;-)

It's not a good idea to paste text directly from Word because it carries over a lot of garbage formatting, but you can use the "paste from Word" button and then reapply any formatting using the Visual Editor. You can learn more here:

Another option is Windows Live Writer, as timethief suggested.
