When I invite viewers to my private blog, they are forced to create a blog of their own, but my blog is not added to their list of blogs. What am I or they doing wrong?

How can i SIMPLY add new viewers to my private blog? Must they CREATE a blog?

They do not have to create a blog. When they register they can select "Gimme a blog" or "No thanks, just a username".

Well, the "just a user name" option works (Thanks, Raincoaster), but they still don't get connected to my blog, and there isn't even an obvious way to do it.
Again, what am I missing?

Furthermore, when they accept my invitation, I get the following email:
xxxxx accepted your invitation to (my blogname).
However, when I go to my user list, they are not on the list.
