How come i cant find the "PLUGINS" button on my ADMIN page?

  1. I am trying to install new plugins to advance my website a little bit with music players, ect. and i cannot figure out why i cant find the PLUGINS button to install any plugins. I have searched for youtube videos about this and it seems pretty simple and that it should be right under appearance, But it does not show? Can anybody please tell me why or help me out on how to do this?

The blog I need help with is loustyles.com.

  2. Plugins cannot be used at wordpress.COM for security reasons. Plugins are for self-hosted wordpress sites using the software from wordpress.ORG.

The difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org (self-hosted) sites.

WordPress directly supports some video formats via shortcodes: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/ .

WordPress has a simple audio player: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ .

You can also use a variety of flash audio players via the gigya shortcode (although this is not officially supported): http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/audio-player/ .

  3. Other flash video players can also be used with the gigya shortcode: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/videos/ .

  4. I appreciate your response! How would i go about doing this then? do i need to create a wordpress.org account? i thought there was a way to add plugins on wordpress.com in the admin panel from downloading the plugins from wordpress.org?

  5. No, there is no way to add plugins. You will have to get a domain name, if you do not already have one, hire a web host such as bluehost, dreamhost, etc., and then install and configure the wordpress.ORG software on that hosting account. Figure an average monthly cost, all things considered of $10 to $25.

You will be responsible for all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong, you have to figure it out and fix it. Sometimes something as seemingly simple as installing a plugin or a new theme can take your site down.

Backups!!! They are very important and make sure they include everything including the database.

  6. Ok, Thank you! i really appreciate you taking the time to respond to this topic!

  7. You are welcome and best of luck.
