How Do I Add an External Link to Top Navigation

  1. How can I add a link to the top navigation that links to an external URL? I added a new page and put the following in the title, but it added 2 links instead of 1 link:

    Join Mailing List

One if the links is a funny untitled on that goes to the new page on my blog, and the other link works correctly. Is there a better way to do this? Do you need custom CSS to fix this one?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The blog I need help with is fa1441.wordpress.com.

  2. the blog link is: http://fa1441.wordpress.com and the code I put into the title is as follows:

    [Join Mailing List]

  3. That trick only works cleanly with some themes here as explained in this blog post by Panos: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/page-tabs-as-external-links/ . K2 is not one of the themes it works cleanly on.

  4. Thank you, that's a very good explanation of what I'm seeing.

  5. You're welcome.

  6. If you're not going to add more pages of this type, it can be made to work cleanly: check the asterisk in my post.
