How do I add ratings (me and not others) for books that I'm reviewing?

  1. Hi. I want to rate the books I'm reviewing on my blog but I don't know how to add the rating system. So if a book is 4 or 5 stars, how do I add that??

  3. I want my posts for book reviews to go under the book reviews tab. How do I add that particular tab? I want my daily posts (non-reviews) to be general commentary. Or should I just delete that menu. HELP!

  4. The WordPress rating system will not work because anyone that visits your site can use the rating system enabled on your site I recommend using a star icon that has a license agreement that will allow you to use it on your site.
    I went ahead and found a high res star icon and edited it in photoshop for you

    After clicking on the links right click and choose "Save Image As" option for each image.

    How to add media to your post http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/ once you click the add media icon click the media library link and choose the star(s) of choice
    Edit: P.s. I preserved the original icon size you can manually resize the image via the media editor or via the post editor after the image is added to the post or you could use an image editor of choice to edit size before you upload the images to your site.

  7. but I'm bummed that it's such a challenge.

    Why can't you just type a series of Asterisks:

    * Good
    ** Better
    *** Best

  8. @notawoodpecker

    Thanks for sharing more options.

  9. Or html entities:
    ★ & # 9733 ;

    ☆ & # 9734 ;

    Type the code above without the spaces into the text editor then switch to visual.

    Or just copy and paste the black and or white stars into the visual editor.

  10. WOW! Thank you everyone for the input and help!! sl1k, the images worked!!! Thank you and than you again! :)

  11. I need some help with my menu's. Can I make my daily posts go on the tab for reviews?? I tried but it deletes everything when I add a new entry.

  12. There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

  13. Thank you for that link! I do have one more question, actually it's two. If I want to change the name of my blog, is that possible? If can, can I change the address of my blog to??

  14. If I want to change the name of my blog, is that possible?

    Yes. You can change the Blog Title and.or optional Tagline at any time on this page > Settings > General

    If can, can I change the address of my blog to?

    Yes.

    See changing a blog address and proceed only with extreme caution after you reader everything there twice or even thrice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

  15. 1) Yes, easily on Dashboard->Settings->General

    2) ugh. UGH. People do this all the time and then they're like "where'd my old address go? It says it's deleted forever!" Yes, if you do the official Change URL process, it deletes your existing URL forever. So we recommend you just go ahead and register the new blog right from your Manage My Blogs page or the WordPress.com main page. Then export your content from the existing blog and Import it into the new one.
