How do I change domain name?

  1. I need to change my domain name, and on one of the other posts, someone had said to make a new blog and then import the information over to the new one. The problem is that I have no idea how to do that. I am completely new to this, and I would appreciate any help you could give.

The blog I need help with is www.forgivenandforgotten.com.

  2. The blog you specified at http://www.forgivenandforgotten.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.

This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.

If you don't understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

  3. Actually Mid-Phase hosts my blog, but they wanted me to change the domain name so I would get more traffic to my site. Was told that I needed to change it at WordPress, Adsense, etc. I will go to WordPress.org, and I thank you for the help.

  4. I meant to name my blog sanslogic.wordpress.com, but instead named in sanslogistic.wordpress. Can I change the domain name?

I have the same question as truckwriter.

  6. @truckwriter, You cannot change a URL once it is created, but all you have to do is make another blog on your existing account and then transfer the stuff over to the new blog. Type "export" into the support page search box for more information on moving your stuff over to the new blog.

  10. As thesacredpath wrote above:
