How do I edit my blog's html?

  1. I need to add my blog http://annazelenskaya.wordpress.com/ to googhle ananlytics and therefore I was said that I have to edit the html code. How do I do it?

The blog I need help with is annazelenskaya.wordpress.com.

  2. Unfortunately, WP.com is a shared blogging platform and that means that we don't have access to the base code our blogs are made from. We can't currently use Google Analytics on WP.com blogs.

There are lots of other options, and http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com has analyzed and tested most of them.

  3. Thank you, raincoaster. I've been given that link - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/ - about google analytics and wordpress, what would you say?

  5. I say: that applies to WordPress.ORG, not WordPress.COM. They are very different. See this thread for an outline of the differences:

  6. "Can I use Google Analytics?
No, Google Analytics cannot be used on WordPress.com blogs at this time."

  7. @annazelenskaya
It's important to understand the differences between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG. See > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for a very comprehensive explanation. We cannot access let alone edit the underlying HTML and PHP in our blog templates at wordpress.com because they are share by all using the same theme. None of the stats programs for visitor tracking that employ javascript can be used on wordpress.com blogs as our software here will strip out the code. See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

As wordpress.com blog cannot be used for commercial purposes I do not find the inability to use the javascript and cookie based tracking systems to be a concern to me.

I have tried out and reviewed the HTML versions of the following third party stats programs for visitor tracking that can be used on wordpress.com blogs: activemeter, clustrMaps, feedjit, getclicky, sitemeter, statcounter and whosamungus. You will find the reviews by clicking my username and using the searchbox on my blog - "visitor tracking". I'm also aware that go-stats can be used as well but have not tried it as yet.
