Why can't I find my blog on the Internet without clicking the link you sent me on my 'activation' e-mail? Also, I can't seem to add an advertisement banner that I want.

http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. Please read this http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
You will need to hire a web host and set up your own self hosted WordPress.org install if you want to run your own ads on a blog.
