How do I get rid of offensive ads appearing on my blog?

  1. I don't want any ads appearing on my blog. If you must have ads appear on my blog, I do not want them to be ads that I find extremely offensive--such as the ones that are appearing on my blog right now. If these are not removed from my blog I will delete my blog. Please help me out with this if you can, as I would like to keep blogging here if possible. Thank you. And please help me soon, as I do not want the run around, or to be waiting a year and a day for a response from someone who can help with this problem. Looking forward to a response very soon from you. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is washbasincompartment.wordpress.com.

  2. Please post screenshot, upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

WordPress.com has been running ads on our free hosted blogs since 2006. When you see ad at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/ what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. To eliminate all ads placed on the blog by WordPress.com you can purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

It's possible for ads to appear in your browser that were not placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser. WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or header ads or sidebar ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then see here:

  3. The offensive ads are not on my blogs right now. I will probably purchase the upgrade soon. I apologize for being abrupt with my earlier post. I was upset. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.

  4. Hi. The ad appeared again and I copied the image off my blog page. The file name is AdFeaturingMoronicGirl. I was not able to make a screen shot. I'm not sure why, but I am not very technologically inclined, so that may have something to do with it. Hope this helps.

  5. Not really. If the ads have "About these ads" on them, they are put there by WordPress. If they don't, they are being put there by malware on your browser. TT has already given you the links to how to fix the browser malware issue.

  6. Okay, thanks. As I said, I'm not technologically inclined. Whatsoever.

  7. The thing I have learned about computers and software is, you don't need to understand the instructions provided they are well-written. Just go step by step and you should be able to fix this.

  8. Will do! Thanks again. I'm using a paper Korean BBQ takeout menu to cover it up in the meantime...

  9. I saw your screenshot, and those ads are not placed on your site by WordPress.com. They are being placed there by software on your own computer. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.

  10. Thank you very much for your help.
