How do I "hook in" my own blog to wordpress.com?

  1. Hello, I have my own blog hosted on my own hosting and URL, but I'd like to be able to "hook it in" to the wordpress.com community. I've googled and looked all over to see if there's a plugin that lets me hook into the "tag cloud" or some such with my API key but I am coming up blank consistently. Is there a way that I can get my posts in the tag cloud, and maybe possibly allow wp.com users to post with their accounts and all that?

  2. edited - OP is not a not a wordpress.com blogger

  3. I don't have [want] a wordpress.com blog, I have one on my own hosting that I'd like to hook into the wordpress community.

  4. You can't do that.

That's too bad, I understand the security concerns, but I use the URL for many things so even converting to a paid hosting account isn't really an ideal solution :(

I can understand how logins can be tricky, as some identifying information would have to go through my untrusted server, but it'd be nice if there was a plugin that let my tags merge in with others and whatnot without having to give up control of my URL =\

  7. It's not security. It's the community. If the tag system was opened up it's value to everyone here would fall because it would be diluted and spammed by others. That wouldn't be welcomed obviously.

    AMEN

  9. It makes sense that joining and contributing to the WordPress.com community would be a prerequisite to benefitting from the WordPress.com community.

  10. Actually I was wondering myself if they were going to use the wp.com stat plugin to do something like that. Had been meaning to ask.
