How do I import a WordPress sql file into a wordpress.com xml format?

  1. I used to have a hosted WordPress blog with domain name that was administered by someone else. When the domain name expired and the blog went offline the admin sent me a back-up of the blog in sql format. I'd now like to import that into my wordpress.com blog but it won't take it. I do not want to download the WordPress software and set that up. I just need someone with know-how to convert the sql file into something that can be imported into the wordpress.com blog. I'm willing to pay for this service.

The blog I need help with is openintegral.wordpress.com.

  2. Unfortunately, you can't import an SQL file to WordPress.com. You would need to first import the SQL into a site hosted using the WordPress.org software (you can do this locally on your own machine using something like Desktop Server from ServerPress.com.

Then you'll need to create the Export XML file to upload to WordPress.com.

If you need additional help with that, you should ask in the WordPress.org support forums at http://wordpress.org/support/

  3. Thanks. Since I am am IT illiterate I can't do this on my own. Would you or anyone else here be willing to do this for me for a fee?
