Hi, I bought vendetta from themeforest, but how do I upload this to my wordpress site? Apparently I should find under appearances upload new theme, but I can't find this under my appearances .

Uploading a new theme, from a 3rd party compatible with wordpress. How does that work?
It doesn't work. WordPress.com users can use any of the 200+ themes found in our Dashboard under Appearance>Themes. Any other theme you find on the Internet meant for "WordPress" is referring to the standalone software.

Thanks for the reply! I was afraid of this. Really confusing that WordPress.com is something else as WordPress... :(
Do you know if I can solve the problem by going to Dreamhost?
The answer to your question is mentioned in the Support doc I linked to above.
You can move your WordPress.com blog to a web host that allows editing and uploading of completely custom themes. You can find suitable hosts here.
If you are not clear on the differences between WordPress.com and the other WordPress, I suggest reading this for clarity
