How do I install an ad widget using script?

  1. How do I install an ad widget using script? I'm trying to use a Lijit ad and tried using a "text" widget but it's not taking/accepting it. Any ideas? Thank you!

  2. We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about at http://wordads.co/

Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
    http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
    http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

Please see this link to learn about the differences:

We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:

  3. Okay, thank you, macmanx! I wasn't aware that outside advertising is not allowed.

  4. You're welcome!

  5. Another question - would there be an exception since I paid extra for my blog name to be http://shortcakescraps.com and that it's hosted by WebHero instead of WordPress?

  6. http://shortcakescraps.com/ is still hosted a WordPress.com.

The domain is registered elsewhere, but it is mapped to your WordPress.com blog.

  7. No. You got what you paid for and nothing more than what you paid for. Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

  8. You really need to read the terms of service

  9. A domain name is not the same as a hosting account. A domain name is like a listing in the phone book, but a hosting account is like your phone provider. It doesn't matter where your domain name is from, if you still host with WordPress.com you still need to abide by their terms of service, which prohibits advertising
